Egon Eiermann‘s sleek and elegant German headquarters for Olivetti (1968-72) in Frankfurt-Niederrad, the German headquarters for the renowned Italian company. Eiermann (1904-1970) was a key figure in the shaping of post-war West Germany architecture and furniture designer - the SE 68 chair is a mid century icon. His Kaiser Wilhem memorial church in Berlin is a city landmark. Amongst other memorable projects is the German embassy in Washington and the German pavilion at Expo 58 in Brussels with Sep Ruf. Hotel Panoráma (1969) Štrbské Pleso in the High Tatra Mountains in Slovakia. Built for the 1970 world ski championship - now returned to former glory - sadly its original raw concrete facade has been covered but the bold design shines through Czech architect Zdeněk Řihák had developed a specialty designing buildings in National Parks, this hotel being a perfect example.
