Barbican Conservatory

A concrete oasis in the heart of the City of London. Chamberlin, Powell and Bon made the unusual choice in 1982 to add a conservatory to the Barbican estate and arts centre. It is the home for more than 1500 varieties of plant and is second only to Kew Gardens.

These photos were taken during the pandemic when the number of visitors allowed in at any one time has been severely limited, which has made  the visitor experience much more rewarding.

The plants sit in a glass conservatory with a backdrop of the Barbican Estate beyond.
