Jules Wabbes
Jules Wabbes was one of the foremost furniture designers and interior architects of postwar Belgium. Initially starting off as an antiques dealer and decorator he eventually set up his own design studio in 1950. Known for his sensual use of fine materials such as exotic woods and stainless steel, his designs are lead by simple lines executed with timeless elegance. Wabbes, like Carlo Scarpa, did not believe in concealing supporting structures or joints. His collaboration with André Jacqmain lasted until 1960. This offered Wabbes the opportunity to perfect his office furniture designs so they could be used for large-scale architecture commissions.
